Rikishi urges WWE to immediately put a title on 38-year-old star

Rikishi recently opened up about his desire to see a popular RAW Superstar win a singles title in WWE. The wrestling legend firmly believes his son and former Bloodline member Jey Uso deserved to win some gold in the promotion.

The Yeet Master's popularity has surged to unforeseen levels in recent months. However, despite being at the top of the card, Main Event Jey has failed to win a singles title. All of his attempts, most recently at Backlash 2024, where he challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship have been in vain.

Rikishi, however, believes that Jey Uso has proved himself as a legitimate draw who deserves to be a champion. On the recent episode of his Rikishi Fatu Off The Top podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer explained that the promotion needs to reward his son Jey owing to just how over he is with the fans.

"What is is that we got to do to give Yeet a chance to finally, after 17 years plus years, blood, sweat and tears, he gave it to you all everything. His mind, body, and soul. Wouldn't you think after all these years to finally crown him and make him earn it because he damn sure earned it. Crown him as an Intercontinental Champion or whatever other champion belt they got," said Rikishi. [From 20:07 to 20:45]

Rikishi was not happy about Jey Uso's loss at WWE Money in the Bank 2024

During the same episode, Rikishi also expressed his frustration over Jey Uso's failure to climb up the ladder and become the new Mr. Money in the Bank. The WWE legend stated that The Yeet Master had gone beyond what the promotion expected from him and that he deserved to be rewarded for his efforts.

“That kind of hits a nerve with me. I’m not asking or saying to give this kid a free pass because who he is and where he comes from. But I mean, again, I’m gonna go back to the numbers. The numbers don’t lie with Yeet. The merchandise that the Yeet Man has done so much for the company. The Yeet Man, he doesn’t have a bad track record. The Yeet Man is not a liability. The Yeet Man shows up to work and does what he does."

Only time will tell if WWE ever pulls the trigger on Jey Uso as a singles champion or if he will simply remain a viable contender for the gold.
