Rising WWE Superstar losing in just 91 seconds on SmackDown was "actually good," says Dutch Mantell (Exclusive)

Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on the squash match on WWE SmackDown this week. In the match, Carmelo Hayes lost to Braun Strowman in just 91 seconds.

Many have touted Hayes as the 'next big thing.' However, his stocks came crashing down on SmackDown this week when he lost to a returning Braun Strowman in just a minute and a half. Strowman's appearance was kept as a surprise and this was his first match on WWE programming in over two months.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell noted that it was good that the match got over quickly as the two stars would not have been able to put on a good show.

"Here is another surprise because I didn’t know who his opponent would be. Then he walks out and I’m wondering, 'Who in the hell booked this?' He got beat early, which is actually good, because that kept people from thinking, ‘Wait a minute, the match goes away and he looks worse.’ So, at least he beat him early and we got out of there. I did not expect a barn-burner from these two. Carmelo Hayes, he can do it but Strowman, he just can’t. So get it over with and get it out of the way." [From 24:50 onwards]

The former WWE manager added that Carmelo Hayes' loss means he is back to where he started and will again have to work his way up.

"He had a few wins not too long ago. We thought now, 'He is starting his move' and now, he just dropped off and is right back where he started." [From 27:05 onwards]

Carmelo Hayes recently had an incredible seven-match series with Andrade, which elevated both men. However, it seems like the two are back to treading water on the blue brand.
