Roman Reigns squaring off with major WWE Superstar after WarGames victory is possible, says veteran
Roman Reigns' OG Bloodline and CM Punk defeated the New Bloodline and "Big" Bronson Reed in the Men's WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. Meanwhile, wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (FKA Aiden English) recently suggested the match has planted the seeds for a potential square-off between the OTC and a member of his Survivor Series: WarGames team.
Ahead of the latest premium live event, the OG Bloodline struggled to recruit a fifth member after Reigns reunited with The Usos and Sami Zayn. However, CM Punk filled that position after making a deal with the returning Wiseman Paul Heyman. Nevertheless, the OTC was clearly against teaming up with The Best in The World. There were several moments of tension between the two top superstars at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Speaking on the REBOOKED podcast, Rehwoldt claimed the unlikely alliance between Punk and Reigns had planted the seeds for a potential future clash between the two.
"I think it gives up a little bit of excitement for a potential Roman vs. Punk match, for sure, despite, I think, the respect is in character legitimately there. But because, again, going into this they were ready to go Four v. Five. Paul was the one who wanted to shore it up and was like, 'We need all the help we could get.' Roman didn't want it. So, that was his kind of way of saying, 'We've got this until we absolutely need your candy a**!'" he said. [33:12-33:43]
WWE Hall of Famer also thinks CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns could happen
Before Survivor Series: WarGames, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi addressed CM Punk's addition to the OG Bloodline team on his Rikishi Fatu Off The Top podcast. The veteran claimed that The Best in The World joining forces with Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn surprised him.
Meanwhile, the WWE legend pointed out that it could lead to a square-off between The Second City Saint and the OTC in the future.
"If you wanted to sell, something could possibly come out of this thing here with CM Punk up against Roman, or who knows? Maybe CM Punk might be starting his own faction," he said.
Although CM Punk will seemingly be busy in a feud with Seth Rollins given the events of the latest episode of WWE RAW, it will be interesting to see if The Best in The World and the Original Tribal Chief collide inside the squared circle in the future.
