Roman Reigns and The Rock's blockbuster showdown, says ex-WWE star, could take place at WrestleMania 41 without a major stipulation
Roman Reigns and The Rock's showdown could be WWE's biggest match in over a decade. However, Matthew Rehwoldt thinks the clash of two megastars could happen at WrestleMania 41 without a major stipulation.
Earlier this year, The Rock expressed interest in going after The Head of the Table and the Undisputed Universal Championship. However, those plans were changed, and Cody Rhodes took center stage and finished his long-standing story at WrestleMania XL when he dethroned The Tribal Chief.
Speaking on Rebooked Wrestling, Matthew Rehwoldt, fka Aiden English, addressed the possibility of Roman Reigns vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. During the conversation, Rehwoldt said a title match is not necessary as there's a story developed between the two after the event in Philadelphia.
"I don't think. I don't think they're going to do it for the belt [at WrestleMania 41]. I don't think that they have to. I think they have enough story for it," Rehwoldt said. (From 1:19:07 onwards)
The Rock and Roman Reigns teamed against two major WWE names at WrestleMania XL
Earlier this year, The Rock made his ground-breaking return to the Stamford-based promotion with a major twist. The People's Champion eventually became The Final Boss of WWE and aligned with The Bloodline against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes.
In the weeks that followed, the faction challenged The American Nightmare to face him and The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania XL with a stipulation in mind. Later, The Visionary stood up for Cody Rhodes and agreed to team up with him against The Rock and Roman Reigns.
On the first night of WrestleMania XL, The Rock and Roman Reigns teamed up for the first time in the Stamford-based promotion in a tag team match and defeated Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Despite their win, The American Nightmare was able to end The Tribal Chief's run in Philadelphia.
