Roman Reigns will challenge Cody Rhodes, says WWE analyst, but not before he achieves one major goal
Cody Rhodes ended Roman Reign's historic Undisputed WWE Championship reign at WrestleMania XL. However, a WWE analyst thinks The Original Tribal Chief might not try to recapture the title until he achieves a specific goal.
After being absent for nearly four months, Reigns returned at SummerSlam to take out his cousin, Solo Sikoa, who had taken over The Bloodline and declared himself the new Tribal Chief. His interference helped Cody Rhodes defeat Sikoa to retain his championship. After the match, Reigns and Rhodes had a staredown as The Original Tribal Chief told The American Nightmare that it was "a matter of time" and that the title "belonged to him."
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts predicted that the two superstars would eventually cross paths again. However, the 40-year-old suggested that Reigns would not go after Rhodes' championship until he defeats Sikoa and retrieves his position as The Tribal Chief:
"You have plenty of time to keep Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes well separated and tell completely different, completely spectacular stories with both. Because eventually, Roman Reigns gets that Ula Fala back. And once he has the Ula Fala and once he is The Tribal Chief, the only other thing he's missing is the Undisputed WWE Championship. But before he goes after the championship, he wants to make sure that everybody knows he's The Tribal Chief," he said. [From 12:42 - 13:08]
Ex-WWE host Matt Camp thinks Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III will happen
Before Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL to finish his story and capture the Undisputed WWE Championship, he lost to The Original Tribal Chief at The Show of Shows the previous year. Former WWE host Matt Camp believes the two superstars will square off in a third match.
Speaking on his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp claimed the massive match could happen on the premiere episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix in January:
"I don't know how long they wanna wait on Cody and Roman. Let me throw this out here, you know they wanna make a splash for Netflix, you know it, as they should. [...] That first episode on Netflix is gonna be loaded up. Do we see Cody [vs.] Roman on that? Do we see Cody [vs.] Rock on that? I think it's absolutely in play. Absolutely in play. I think we're getting a massive match," he said.
While Reigns is feuding with Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline, Cody Rhodes will defend his championship against Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin. It would be interesting to see if the Original Tribal Chief and The American Nightmare would soon go head-to-head again.
