Sami Zayn breaks character to praise major rival ahead of WWE Money in the Bank

WWE Superstar Sami Zayn has broken character to praise his opponent for Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. The veteran dethroned Gunther of the Intercontinental Championship at WWE WrestleMania XL and will be defending the title at the premium live event tomorrow night in Toronto, Canada.

Bron Breakker has made an impact since arriving on the main roster and brutally took out Ricochet last month. The former NXT Champion will be challenging Zayn for the title at Money in the Bank and hit him with a Spear this past Monday on WWE RAW.

Ahead of his title defense against Breakker, Zayn spoke with Postmedia's Rob Wong for the Toronto Sun, the 39-year-old spoke highly of his young rival and said Breakker brings a "crazy amount of athleticism" to the ring.

“Bron Breakker certainly has been making a name for himself, for somebody who’s only been here a very short time. I think he brings a crazy amount of athleticism and intensity that I can’t really compare to any superstar I’ve seen that’s come up in a while," he said.

Despite having heavy praise for his opponent, the veteran also spoke of his own tenacity in the ring. He highlighted his ability to hang in the squared circle and said he had the confidence to put on a great show in front of the Toronto audience with the speedy powerhouse.

"But I’ve made a little bit of a name for myself in my own right as a rather tenacious kind of performer in the ring. So I think it’s a very interesting foil, a very interesting matchup with his kind of speed and strength and my sort of tenacity and ability to hang in there. So I think it tells a compelling story, and I think it’s going to be a great match, especially in front of the Toronto audience," Zayn said. [H/T: Fightful]

Bill Apter suggests an interesting finish to Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker at WWE Money in the Bank

Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter has suggested an interesting finish for the Intercontinental Championship match at Money in the Bank PLE this weekend.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine show, Apter noted that Breakker has had difficulty controlling his temper on WWE television. He pitched that the 26-year-old could get frustrated with not being able to put Zayn away and get himself disqualified this Saturday night.

"I have got a different result. One of the bad things about Bron Breakker is his aggressiveness and his temper. And I think during this match when he fails to pin Sami Zayn a bunch of times, he's gonna go crazy with spears and wind up getting himself disqualified, and we will see a rematch maybe at SummerSlam," predicted Apter. Bron Breakker is confident that he will walk out of WWE Money in the Bank as the new Intercontinental Champion. It will be interesting to see if the former NXT Champion can capture his first title on the main roster this weekend.
