Sami Zayn credits megastar with just 2 WWE matches for helping him get into The Bloodline
Sami Zayn had a remarkable run when he was part of The Bloodline, culminating in a huge win with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 39. Zayn credited his seemingly smooth transition to the heel faction to his storyline with Johnny Knoxville in 2022.
In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Zayn opened up about his feud with Johnny Knoxville on the Road to WrestleMania 38. He also explained how the program helped him transition into his story with Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa.
"That was really like a precursor to The Bloodline. I mean quite literally actually because that story and the humiliation coming out of that match was what from a character perspective, and from a storyline perspective was like the fuel for the respect that the character needed to seek out [of] The Bloodline. But in another sort of way from a creative perspective, it was a precursor because of just the mental energy and the creative juices and all that into how to construct a story and how to get us there," Zayn said. Sami Zayn is proud of his WrestleMania 38 match with Johnny Knoxville
Not a lot of people thought that Sami Zayn and Johnny Knoxville would have a good match at WrestleMania 38. It was Knoxville's second match ever and the WWE Universe didn't expect much from the duo.
However, the two stars stole the show in Dallas in one of the most entertaining gimmick matches in WrestleMania history. Zayn was very proud of the contest and called it "unique."
"Very unique scenario, very unique circumstance, very unique match, very unique performers. I think that's why I just enjoyed it so much is like. It kind of can't be replicated, it really can't. I don't know, just very something I'm very very proud of," Zayn told Fightful. [5:26 - 5:50 from the video above]
