Serious injury sees WWE SmackDown match stopped by referee; officials worried
WWE SmackDown witnessed a very serious injury this week, which brought a match to a swift end by the referee.
In the penultimate match on the show this week, Carmelo Hayes got a shot to fight Austin Theory. The two were no strangers, putting on a great show. Unfortunately, the match appeared to end in a severe injury.
At one point, Theory went to hit Hayes with the Avalanche Spanish Fly from the top rope. When he jumped up to hit the move, he didn't get enough air. As a result, he landed on the top of his head and neck, getting hurt. Hayes also bounced off him.
The referee wasted no time calling off the match, with the focus being on the stars and their health. Grayson Waller, who was at ringside, looked very concerned for his partner.
The WWE commentators were also worried, with the officials telling fans at home that the stars were hurt. They would update the fans via social media after the stars were evaluated.
At this time, the nature of the injury was not declared, but the doctors were checking out both stars.
We at Sportskeeda wish both WWE stars a swift recovery.
