Shawn Michaels shockingly defies long-standing WWE tradition on NXT
Shawn Michaels has made a change to a long-standing traditional WWE format on NXT. The change was evident on tonight's show.
Ethan Page and Oro Mensah have been engaged in a fierce rivalry ever since Page admitted that he was the one who attacked Noam Dar. As a result, Oro has jumped Page at every opportunity possible. This even resulted in him getting banned from a show.
Oro has gotten the better of Page over the past few weeks and has even unofficially pinned him a couple of times. As a result, Ethan Page agreed to face Oro Mensah in a match for the NXT Championship on night two of the NXT Great American Bash.
Ahead of their match last week, both men met in Ava's office to sign the contracts for the match. During the segment, Oro mentioned that Page has been ducking him because the champion knows he can pin him. Page then reminded him that the pinfalls he got on him don't count. Page signed the contract for the match, making it official for next week. Oro then told him that when he beats Page for the title, it will fit perfectly around his waist.
Contract signings in WWE usually take place in the middle of the ring. This was Shawn Michaels' way to break free of the usual tradition by having the contract signing in a pre-recorded segment backstage.
Shawn Michaels has thus ensured a unique contract signing experience with no violence as well.
