Shawn Michaels & Bret Hart buried the hatchet with the help of major WWE personality? Natalya confirms the name!
WWE legends Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart were once notorious for their Montreal Sc***job incident, which strained their professional and personal relationship. However, in recent years, they have reconciled and left their professional and personal heat behind. Recently, Natalya revealed that a key figure within WWE played a significant role in facilitating this reconciliation.
At the 1997 Survivor Series PLE, Hart wrestled Michaels for the WWE Champion in Montreal, Canada. Shockingly, The Excellence of Execution was supposed to leave the Stamford-based promotion for rival competition, WCW, and also refused to drop the WWE Title in his homeland to The Showstopper.
The former WWE CEO Vince McMahon then pulled the plug and controversially ended the contest. Mr. McMahon instructed the referee to call for the bell and award the championship to Shawn Michaels, even though Bret Hart had not tapped out to The Sharpshooter.
In an interview with The Takedown On SI, Natalya reflected on the infamous Montreal incident. The former SmackDown Women's Champion explained that her husband, Tyson Kidd (aka TJ Wilson), played a crucial role in initiating a reconciliation between The Hitman and HBK.
The Queen of Harts praised the former WWE Tag Team Champion for his trustworthiness and Bret Hart's respect for him, which helped to open a door for communication and healing.
Tyson Kidd is a graduate of the renowned Hart Dungeon training facility. Following his retirement from in-ring wrestling, The Stampede Kid currently holds the position of a WWE producer.
"TJ was the one that opened up [the] conversation between Bret and Shawn for them to kind of reconcile. So, we can all thank TJ [Wilson] for being the person that opened up that door because TJ is somebody that Bret really respects, and [he] trusts his word. Shawn was so nice to us, and I think Shawn, for a long time felt, you know, I think he felt bad," she said. [H/T: SI]
