Shawn Michaels teases surprises for upcoming WWE show following major CM Punk announcement
Shawn Michaels has been in charge of NXT since September 2021 and the brand will be moving to The CW Network starting in October. After CM Punk and Randy Orton were advertised to appear on their first two NXT shows in their new home, Michaels teased more upcoming surprises.
WWE announced on August 6 that the first two NXT shows on The CW will be held in Chicago on October 1 and St. Louis on October 8. Punk will be appearing in his hometown of Chicago and Orton will do the same for his hometown of St. Louis.
In a recent interview on WGN Radio, Michaels teased more surprises for the two shows to kick off their move to The CW. He even added that Punk could be involved in a big way in the Chicago show.
"I can't let the cat out of the bag right now. CM Punk will be there and he's going to be playing a major role, obviously. But beyond that, we have other surprises in store that I think are going to make this a very special night for everyone," Michaels said. (H/T SEScoops)
There have been plenty of surprises on NXT over the past year, highlighted by the signings of stars such as Ethan Page and Shawn Spears, as well as the partnership with TNA Wrestling.
It led to appearances by Jordynn Grace, Joe Hendry, and several other TNA stars. Fans have also praised Shawn Michaels for "cooking, " which led to his "Chef" gimmick on social media.
Shawn Michaels discusses Ethan Page signing
In an interview with Good Karma Wrestling, Shawn Michaels talked about the process that went into the signing of Ethan Page. The former AEW star was a free agent and it was WWE's time to bring in some big names to NXT.
"I will say this, soon as I found out that he was available, it was something that I started looking into immediately. Again, because you're talking about a great deal of experience, seasoned, comfortable. Somebody that knows what they’re doing out there… I didn't know everything about him but you sort of look at him and you say, I think there's a lot of untapped potential there," Michaels said. Page is the current NXT champion, so the signing has been a success. The partnership with TNA Wrestling has also been well-received with stars crossing over between the two promotions.
