Shawn Spears reacts to 18-year-old WWE moment with Hall of Famer
WWE Superstar Shawn Spears returned in early 2024 after a stint in AEW and currently performs in NXT. Spears looked back to a moment in 2006 when he was used on television as a backstage staff.
In 2006, NXT's Head of Creative, Shawn Michaels, reformed D-Generation X with WWE CCO Triple H. The two men were consistently featured in many loud and brash promo segments, typical of DX. In a lighter backstage moment, The Heartbreak Kid was seen throwing a tantrum. The Game asked him to stay calm. However, instead, the Hall of Famer knocked out three men he spots on the way, one of them being Shawn Spears.
On X/Twitter, USA Network shared the clip of the backstage segment where Michaels is seen asking Spears what his name is, to which the latter replies, "Stan." The legend then proceeds to hit a Sweet Chin Music on the former AEW star. Shawn Spears has reacted to the post:
"Come onnnnnnnn…..," Spears wrote.
Another old story about Shawn Spears resurfaced recently. Although Booker T and The Undertaker recounted a moment when some wrestler in the locker room drank Booker's Red Bull, the man in question was not disclosed. Former wrestler Stevie Richards revealed it to be Spears, who took the energy drink by accident and wound up getting kicked out of the locker.
Shawn Spears talks about his WWE career and says he does not want to leave
Shawn Spears worked previously in WWE from 2006 to 2009, during which he was part of OVW and, for a brief period, ECW. He then returned to the Stamford-based promotion in 2013, adopting the ring name Tye Dillinger. He then moved to AEW in 2019 following his release from the global juggernaut. Spears remained with All Elite Wrestling for four years.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT recently, Spears noted that he has no interest in leaving WWE ever again.
"I can say wholeheartedly that I am in the right spot right now in WWE and NXT. And I'm very confident to say that I will retire and finish everything here. I don't want to go anywhere else, and that's not a shot to anybody else. It's just I feel that everything that has happened in my career, everything's taken place in my life as a human, as a performer, it all led to be in this exact spot sitting with you right now talking about how good things just happen to work out. Life is good," Spears said.
Shawn Spears also recounted how Triple H brought him back to WWE after his run with AEW ended. He informed the Chief Content Officer that he wished to contribute, and the veteran looked into what could be done. By March 2024, Spears returned to the sports entertainment giant and began a run in NXT.
