Sheamus could get banished from WWE RAW, analyst says
Eight months after career-threatening neck and shoulder injuries, former WWE Champion Sheamus made a triumphant return to Monday Night RAW in April 2024. He has since worked exclusively on the flagship show against up-and-coming talents.
The Irishman and Ludwig Kaiser have traded wins thus far, but Kaiser is not satisfied with it. He wants to end the veteran's in-ring career. The European Excellence making such a remark is not coincidental, speculates former WWE analyst Matt Camp, who believes it could lead to a prominent storyline. Furthermore, Camp feels that it will propel World Heavyweight Champion Gunther's protégé.
On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Matt Camp pointed to the spotlight that has been put on Ludwig Kaiser. He stated that the 46-year-old WWE Superstar is an ideal opponent for the young stalwart, and something significant should happen with this angle, even if it is an eventual Intercontinental Championship win for Kaiser:
"I think he said it for a reason," Matt Camp stated with regard to Ludwig Kaiser's comments on ending Sheamus's in-ring career. "I think there is a story to tell with Sheamus trying to get that IC Title, and Kaiser saying, 'Hey, you're in my way of me trying to make a name for myself.'" [From 13:23 to 13:46]
Camp recalled the former WWE Champion feuding with Goldust in ECW back in 2009 when he was a rookie, noting that the latter has come full circle in 2024, with Ludwig Kaiser now the rising talent on the roster:
"But I wonder if those statements by Kaiser are going to lead to something bigger. Something with higher stakes. Sheamus's career, IC Title shots or whatever it may be; banishment from RAW, could be anything like that." [From 14:48 to 15:04]
Last week on RAW, Ludwig Kaiser interfered in the veteran's IC Title match against Bron Breakker, ending the match with a disqualification.
Why does Sheamus want to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship?
During an appearance on WWE's The Bump two years ago, Sheamus explained why he is chasing the second-oldest belt in the company's history.
Usually, it is the ideal title for a rising star, and the Irishman is already an accomplished veteran with a Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and multiple World Title wins. The Celtic Warrior revealed that the reason is because he wants to be the "first-ever Ultimate Grand Slam Champion":
"One title away from becoming the first-ever Ultimate Grand Slam Champion. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, Edge did all that. Edge has won everything. But the truth of the matter is, it's a bleeding sham. Because Edge won his United States Championship when it was WCW. So that's automatically disqualified. So I'm on the verge of something fantastic."
As of this writing, Sheamus has the upper hand over Ludwig Kaiser. However, the Irishman has failed to win the IC Title on multiple occasions for the last two years. Whether he is destined to win the belt before retirement bears watching.
