Sheamus takes a dig at fans for online criticism; reveals original WWE return plan
WWE is heading to the annual Draft, and Sheamus made his presence felt on Monday Night RAW after a long hiatus. Today, the Celtic Warrior took a dig at fans for fat-shaming him over the past few days and revealed original plans for his return.
The Celtic Warrior was absent for months after a hard-fought battle against Edge on Friday Night SmackDown. The former leader of The Brawling Brutes went away for a while as he was dealing with an injury. The four-time World Champion missed a few events before his return to WWE.
However, a certain section of fans made some insensitive comments regarding the star's weight and appearance following his return. Today, Sheamus took a dig back at the fans and added some jokes of his own. Moreover, he revealed he originally intended to return during the annual Draft but got called early:
"Ok Ok take your best shots. Whalemus, Too Many Pies, etc.. and then weโre done with the photoshopping & shaming. I was aiming for the Draft & got an early call-up. My bad. On me. Been sleeping in the gym ever since SO watch this space ๐๐ป i appreciate the love too," the star said.
Former WWE personality has high hopes for Sheamus following his return
Sheamus has been an integral part of the company for over a decade after he started in WWE's version of ECW in 2009. The Celtic Warrior had several highs and lows throughout his career and worked under two different regimes before going on a hiatus.
Meanwhile, former WWE General Manager Eric Bischoff has high hopes for the star. During a conversation on 83 Weeks, Bischoff stated that the next 12 months are crucial for the star as it could lead to a bigger path heading into WrestleMania 41 in 2025.
"He has been off long enough that he is like the 'absence makes the heart grow fonder factor' has kicked it, it feels fresh. Yeah, would it have been nice if Sheamus had a story starting six months or a year ago, or perhaps it would have built to WrestleMania? Sure, that would have been nice. But if I'm Sheamus right now, I'm looking at what happens to me over the next 12 months. What am I going to be doing looking forward to the next WrestleMania because he has got a clear runway, and he's got some support behind him." [From 36:06 to 36:35]
It will be interesting to see what the star does next on the red brand.
