Shinsuke Nakamura drops a big update on his WWE future
Considered one of the most well-liked and respected names on the WWE roster, it looks like Shinsuke Nakamura has no plans of leaving the Stamford-based promotion anytime soon. The WWE star recently revealed his big aspirations moving forward.
Shinsuke arrived in the WWE in 2016 as a Japanese wrestling legend and, after a strong run in NXT, has had a rather underwhelming time on the main roster.
Even though he enjoyed a resurgence under the new regime, WWE doesn't seem to view Shinsuke Nakamura as a main-event player, leaving many to question his long-term status in the company.
During his appearance at UFC 303, Shinsuke Nakamura spoke to Aaron Bronsteter and was asked about his WWE role.
Nakamura looked back at his eight-year run in WWE and revealed he wanted to continue wrestling for the Stamford-based organization. There are still many dream scenarios that the former IWGP Champion hopes to accomplish in the promotion, as he noted below:
"Yeah, so I have been wrestling for over eight years right now (in WWE). So, I want to keep wrestling in WWE. So, I want to give fans more dream (matches). So, that's what I want to do." [From 2:03 onwards]
Shinsuke Nakamura says he brought the Japanese style of wrestling to WWE
Known as the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke was quite a big deal when he first landed on American shores to work for WWE.
His hard-hitting, strike-based offensive style was a welcome addition to the NXT product. Shinsuke Nakamura believes he was instrumental in the Japanese style becoming more prominent on the mainstream level.
Despite his seemingly groundbreaking contributions, Nakamura stated he was just a 'challenger' and wanted to change that tag:
"I want to show the passion. Also, I brought the Japanese style to WWE, but I still think I'm not accomplished. I'm still a challenger (who) keeps challenging." [2:28 - 2:45]
The booking of Nakamura might be a matter of constant debate amongst wrestling fans, but the 44-year-old sounds as motivated as ever to regain some momentum and get back to the top.
