Shocking WWE departure prompts a reaction from Hall of Famer Bill Apter: "He is such a great guy" (Exclusive)

WWE recently parted ways with a few names on its roster, and many fans were caught unawares. A particular release was especially surprising, which led NWA Hall of Famer Bill Apter to share his thoughts.

Baron Corbin was one of the names on the list, departing the company in November this year. While he had been with the company for 12 years, he didn't make many moves in the top rung of the roster. Furthermore, his storylines were also not the best, despite his exceptionally talented, according to Bill Apter.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, the veteran journalist stated:

"For such a long time, they have been trying to get him a character that was gonna work. He is such a great guy, and he is really very good in the ring," Apter noted. "I wish they'd have kept him for a backstage guy or for a trainer down at NXT. But they tried, you know, with the happy Corbin and so many other angles on him, and it just didn't work." The veteran clarified that WWE didn't fire Baron Corbin

Bill Apter took it upon himself to clarify any confusion regarding Baron's departure from WWE and explained the circumstances of his departure.

On the same episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, Apter explained that the Stamford-based promotion had not fired Baron Corbin. He said:

"So they're just saying goodbye because they just don't have a place for him at this time. Lot of internet sites are saying they fired him. They didn't; they are not renewing his contract." [1:18 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen what Baron Corbin does next in his career.
