SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis opens up on being trusted by Triple H for huge promotion

Triple H made his highly-anticipated appearance on WWE SmackDown this week, where he revealed Nick Aldis as the blue brand's new General Manager.

With over two decades of experience in the industry, Aldis arrived in WWE to work as a producer and left fans in awe with his recent work, especially after Triple H took over. The Game appointed him as the new head honcho of SmackDown while promoting Adam Pearce to be the RAW General Manager.

Aldis spoke about his new responsibility in a backstage interview, where he opened up on his plans. He revealed that becoming the General Manager is a testament to several other roles he had played in the industry. The 36-year-old specifically credited Triple H for trusting him to lead the No. 1 brand in all of sports entertainment today.

"Well, I am feeling wonderful. I am not so sure about the two very(s), that makes me feel a little bit on the wrong side of time…but I appreciate that," said Aldis. "I have been in the business for quite a while, more than half my adult life. But yeah, look, as I said there, it is the opportunity of the lifetime to be the General Manager of SmackDown, the No. 1 brand in all the sports entertainment. Wow, it’s a testament to the many hats I have worn in the industry outside the ring. And to be bestowed that trust by Triple H and the rest of the management team at WWE is a huge thrill." Nick Aldis replaces Jey Uso on WWE SmackDown with a former World Champion

The blue brand lost Jey Uso when he quit following his fallout with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. Cody Rhodes convinced the former Right Hand Man to return, and the latter arrived on RAW. This meant another star from the red brand had to be traded for Jey Uso, which made up Nick Aldis' first order of business.

The new SmackDown General Manager negotiated with RAW Superstar Kevin Owens in exchange for Jey Uso. The Prizefighter made a shocking move to the blue brand this week, and Aldis is certain that the former WWE Champion is set for a singles run on the show.
