SmackDown superstar leaving WWE in a few months after his contract expires is unlikely, says Dutch Mantell (Exclusive)
A lot has changed in WWE over the last couple of years, with multiple talents leaving the company. However, Dutch Mantell does not see Kevin Owens joining the list following rumors of his contract expiry.
It was recently reported that The Prizfighter's current deal with the global juggernaut is set to expire in a few months. While the company has reportedly offered the SmackDown star a new contract, both parties have yet to reach an agreement.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell noted that he does not see Kevin Owens leaving the Stamford-based promotion.
"I say he stays. Even though he may get a better deal with AEW, I think he likes WWE. Made his name there, and I think there are more opportunities for him in WWE now than what AEW could produce, so I think he stays. I don’t think he’s going anywhere."
The wrestling veteran added that he does not see the former Universal Champion thriving in AEW:
"If he signs with AEW, I see him just flat-lining. Period," said Dutch Mantell. [From 1:15:30 onwards]
Kevin Owens was present on SmackDown this week, where The Bloodline confronted him before he could give his thoughts on the partnership between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. The Prizefighter also competed in a six-man match during the main event. It ended in a no-contest followed by a brawl.
The scuffle ended after Cody Rhodes showed up. After that, Kevin Owens teased a heel turn but ultimately shook hands with Rhodes.
