Sonya Deville stakes claim for major RAW spot following recent attack
Sonya Deville claimed she deserved a major spot on WWE RAW following an attack during last night's show. Deville is the leader of Pure Fusion Collective on the red brand alongside Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.
Zoey Stark defeated Kayden Carter and Raquel Rodriguez last night on RAW in a Triple Threat match to advance in the Women's Intercontinental Championship tournament. After the match, Pure Fusion Collective attacked Kairi Sane backstage, taking her out of the tournament. Sonya Deville took to social media today to claim that she deserved the spot in the tournament after Sane was attacked last night on RAW.
"There’s an open spot. There’s no debating who gets it," Sonya Deville wrote.
Sonya Deville has not competed in a match since Damage CTRL defeated Pure Fusion Collective on the November 11 edition of WWE RAW. The veteran has never won a singles title in the company but did capture the Women's Tag Team Championship with Chelsea Green last year before suffering a torn ACL. Green became the inaugural Women's United States Champion by defeating Michin at Saturday Night's Main Event.
WWE star Sonya Deville rants about not being included in the Women's Intercontinental Championship tournament
Sonya Deville recently went on a rant about being left out of the Women's Intercontinental Championship tournament on WWE RAW.
The 31-year-old shared a brief video on social media earlier this month and suggested that she would get in trouble if she posted the rest of it. Deville mocked the idea of Dakota Kai being included in the tournament and noted that she had been fighting her entire life and deserved the opportunity to compete in the Women's Intercontinental Championship.
"When that is all I've been doing for my entire career, actually my entire life is fighting. Because I'm a fighter. And I don't just mean in the ring, I have literally overcome things. But I don't sit here and brag about how much I deserve things. You have Dakota Kai in the tournament, now we are applauding her so much because she has come back from her fourth injury in four years, and that is something to brag about now? That is something that is rewarded now? What are we doing?" Deville said. [From 00:01 - 00:28]
Pure Fusion Collective's Zoey Stark has also never captured a singles title in WWE but could become the inaugural Women's Intercontinental Champion in the weeks ahead. Following last night's attack on RAW, it will be interesting to see who replaces Kairi Sane in the tournament.
