WWE News: Spirit Squad make surprise appearance at Ring of Honor event
What’s the story?
After winning back their Ring of Honor (ROH) tag-team championships from the Broken Hardys at the Supercard Of Honor event last week, the Young Bucks issued an open challenge for their titles.
Their open invitational was answered by the Spirit Squad, as they made a surprise appearance at a recent ROH taping (4/8/17) in Baltimore, Maryland.
In case you didn’t know...
The Spirit Squad was initially a pro-wrestling stable best known for their time in the WWE in 2006 and most recently in a segment with their former member Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown last year.

The stable’s former members include Ziggler (then known as Nicky), Johnny and Mitch. As of today, the Spirit Squad is a tag team represented by Kenny Dykstara and Mike Mondo (then known just as ‘Kenny’ and ‘Mikey’).

The Spirit Squad ended up losing their ROH tag-team debut against the Young Bucks when Matt scored the pinfall on Mikey after delivering a 5 Star Meltzer Driver.
What’s next?
Ring of Honor have taped 4 episodes in Baltimore, Maryland that will air in the upcoming weeks.
Author’s take:
With the multitude of talented performers that routinely grace the ROH ring, the Spirit Squad’s addition makes sense in a weird kinda way.
Now I know that Mikey and Kenny aren’t the best performers out there, but the sheer contrast between them and the promotion’s top stars such as Matt and Nick of the Young Bucks will serve to highlight just how good the rest of ROH’s talents are.
