SPOILER: Huge WWE title match made official for major upcoming show

WWE has started preparing for the holidays by holding double tapings for its three major weekly shows—RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. A huge title match was recently made official for an upcoming big event to start the new year.

The NXT brand under Shawn Michaels filmed next week's episode for Christmas Eve after the conclusion of Tuesday's show. One of the significant developments at the tapings pertained to the NXT Championship.

Tuesday's episode ended in controversy when two referees declared different winners in the main event title match between NXT Champion Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe. NXT general manager Ava declared Williams still champion, but Thorpe argued the decision.

Michaels came out to assess the situation, but the show went off the air with more questions than answers. Thorpe pushed off the WWE Hall of Famer and was escorted by officials to the back.

According to Fightful, Williams vs. Thorpe vs. Oba Femi in a Triple Threat match for the NXT Championship was made official for New Year's Evil on January 7, 2025.

Eddy Thorpe took a little shortcut to get his opportunity against Trick Williams. Meanwhile, Oba Femi earned his status as the number one contender after winning the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline 2024.

The start of 2025 will be a must-watch for the WWE Universe, from RAW's debut on Netflix on January 6 to New Year's Evil the following night.

Triple H looking to change WWE tradition

One of the downsides of being a WWE Superstar in the past was not having enough personal or family time. Stars are on the road for more than 300 days a year, performing non-stop.

According to Fightful Select via Wrestling Headlines, Triple H is reportedly looking to change the tradition of wrestlers not having time off. It has already started this year with the talent having a full week off for Christmas.

The company held double tapings for RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, which is a good sign for the morale of the roster. There are no scheduled live shows from December 15 until Christmas. They are back on the road on December 26 for the year-end Holiday Tour.
