Spoiler: Major WWE championship match ends in massive botch on SmackDown

This week's episode of WWE SmackDown was headlined by Nia Jax and Mia Yim. The two veterans took on each other in a Street Fight for the Women's Championship.

Michin and Jax came prepared with weapons and used kendo sticks and tables against each other in what became controlled chaos. Tiffany Stratton was then added to the match when she ran out and teased a cash-in before Bayley chased her from ringside.

It was this interference that allowed Jax to hit the Samoan Drop followed by an AnNiahlator to Yim inside a trashcan to win the match. However, the three-count was with the 35-year-old inside the can, which means that her shoulders were not actually on the mat, by the rules.

It's still unclear why Jessika Carr didn't ask for Yim to be taken out of the trashcan for the pinfall since this wasn't a 'Falls Count Anywhere' Match. It was a Street Fight which means that the pin needed to be within the rules.

Will the finish lead to a rematch for the WWE Women's Championship?

Jax was able to retain her championship following the pinfall victory, but Mia Yim would now be within her rights to ask for a rematch since there was interference from Stratton and Bayley and the pin wasn't technically legal.

WWE rules state that both shoulders have to be flat on the mat, but hers were inside a trashcan that was on the mat, which as per the rules should not count as a pin.

It's obvious that WWE added this finish with The Irresistible Force squashing Michin inside a trashcan to add to the illusion that she is an unbeatable monster. However, it seems to have failed since the referee can be seen looking to see if her shoulders were down and they clearly were inside the can, so she should have told her that she needed to be taken out for the pinfall to count.
