WWE News: Stephanie McMahon discusses the keys behind WWE's success
Stephanie McMahon recently attended the ‘ANA Masters of Marketing’ conference in Orlando. According to Adweek, the Commissioner of RAW discussed the widespread success of WWE in this event. She stated that over the past few years, WWE has become more than just a wrestling promotion through their various social activities.
Stephanie mentioned that the WWE had to leverage its content to establish a massive fanbase. She pointed out three factors that had been helping their marketing success : depth of the content, involvement of pop culture and giving back to the loyal supporters.
Stephanie spoke about what made the WWE product work well for its audiences:
"You want content that's relatable, genuine, authentic and resonates with your consumer. They have to have a reason to care. If we're doing our jobs right, you become invested in our characters' tragedy and triumph."
McMahon feels that brand integration with pop culture must be authentic. She recalled multiple occasions where celebrities became a part of WWE TV. Moreover, she mentioned that John Stewart, former host of The Daily Show, had "a whole lot of fun" while working in a few segments at Summerslam.
Stephanie said that WWE tries to give back to their audiences by working in numerous anti-bullying campaigns and social welfare projects. She went on to say:
"It's important for us to give back to the community and put smiles on our fans' faces, and create memories for them”
Stephanie McMahon and the General Manager of RAW Mick Foley are currently focused on proving Raw as the better brand against Smackdown. The competition is against her own brother, Shane, who is the Commissioner for SmackDown Live. Let’s take a look at how it all started:
Although she is mainly involved in a non-wrestling role, Stephanie has wrestled multiple matches in the WWE throughout her career. The former Women’s Champion even squared off against Brock Lesnar inside a WWE ring!
