Stone Cold Steve Austin walked out on former WWE Superstar costing him over $15000: Why did he do that? (Exclusive)

Stone Cold Steve Austin is a wrestler credited with carrying WWE on his back during the Attitude Era. In his prime, Austin conducted himself like a professional and was involved in some of the biggest feuds in the company's history. However, the legendary wrestler refused to show up on one occasion.

During a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Coach & Bro Show, available exclusively on Backstage Pass, former WWE authority figure Jonathan Coachman revealed how Steve Austin once walked out on him. Coachman, who was speaking to Vince Russo, revealed he was going to face The Texas Rattlesnake at a pay-per-view.

"We had a storyline where Vince [McMahon] wanted me because I was over as a heel. I don't care what anybody says. And a lot of the boys hated that because I was still the guy that came in as an announcer that they turned into a character. And so Vince wanted me to face Stone Cold for a pay-per-view," Coachman said.

The former RAW general manager said he had a cordial relationship with the Hall of Famer, but the latter didn't want to wrestle him.

"Stone Cold, who I get along with great, no issues at all, decided it was beneath him to wrestle me. So he just didn't show up. So back then, you would get bonuses, and probably for that match, I would have made 15 to 25 grand extra, and then I didn't get that match," Coachman added.

Jonathan Coachman revealed he didn't receive the bonus because the proposed bout didn't happen. Nevertheless, Coachman had a decent career in WWE, where he started as a backstage interviewer and eventually became the interim general manager of RAW until he was replaced by William Regal.

Jonathan Coachman once revealed Stone Cold Steve Austin was worried WWE fans won't remember him

As mentioned above, the name Stone Cold Steve Austin requires no introduction when it comes to professional wrestling. A six-time world champion in WWE, Austin is on the Mount Rushmore of many professional wrestling fans. Although he rarely appears on TV these days, he is still loved.

There was a time when The Texas Rattlesnake was worried that WWE fans wouldn't remember him. In 2019, Stone Cold Steve Austin made a few appearances on Monday Night RAW.

During an episode of the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, Jonathan Coachman revealed an emotional conversation he had with Austin before the latter entered the ring.

"Stone Cold Steve Austin is standing there backstage and he looks at me and you could tell he was unbelievably nervous. And he's like, 'Coach, I'm so nervous. What if they don't remember me?' And I looked at him and I said: 'You are Stone Cold Steve Austin. There's only ever been one.' And he went out there, I don't know if you guys remember this, he actually said my name on the microphone. He said, 'I was just backstage. The Coach was talking to me and he reminded me of who the hell I am.'" [47:47 - 48:13]

The appearances Stone Cold made between 2019 and 2020 were received very well by the WWE Universe. The six-time world champion even wrestled in a No Holds Barred Match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38, where he won.
