Super-popular WWE star challenging Gunther at WrestleMania 41 is possible, says analyst, after potentially winning the Men's Royal Rumble
Gunther defeated Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. A WWE Analyst wants to see him defend the title against a popular RAW star.
The Superstar in question is Jey Uso. The multi-time Tag Team Champion is currently one of the most popular competitors in the Stamford-based company. Earlier this year, he challenged The Ring General for the Intercontinental Championship. However, he came up short. Gunther later eliminated Jey from the King of the Ring tournament. Nevertheless, Sam Roberts would like to see the two square off again at WrestleMania 41.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, the WWE Analyst suggested that Jey could win the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match and then challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at next year's Show of Shows:
"Now more than ever I'm going, okay, spend the rest of this year doing your Bloodline stuff, whatever you gotta do. If Jey Uso wins the Royal Rumble and goes to WrestleMania to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, you couldn't finally get to that culmination? I mean, Jey Uso vs. Gunther, with Gunther saying, 'I beat you in the King of the Ring. I beat you when I was Intercontinental Champion. What makes you think?' And Jey just like having to once again find Main Event Jey Uso. And maybe there's a new camaraderie with Roman Reigns," he said. [55:04 - 55:44]
WWE host Megan Morant wants Randy Orton to challenge Gunther
Earlier this year, Gunther scored a controversial victory over Randy Orton in the final of the King of the Ring tournament. While Chief Content Officer Triple H acknowledged that The Viper's shoulder was up when he got pinned by The Ring General, he stated that the referee's decision was final. Meanwhile, The Game claimed that the two superstars would share the ring again.
On the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE host Megan Morant suggested that the 14-time World Champion should challenge Gunther:
"We're going to get Gunther [vs.] Randy because of what happened at King of the Ring. I mean Triple H said we're gonna get it. He said we're gonna get it. [But I don't know when.] Me neither. But he said we're gonna get it. I just want it," she said.
While Sam Roberts and Megan Morant predicted that Gunther would have a long World Heavyweight Championship reign, it will be interesting to see who will challenge The Ring General in the upcoming weeks.
