"Superstar vs. Superstar" - CM Punk comments on a potential feud against major WWE star
CM Punk's first televised singles WWE match in over a decade is set to take place at SummerSlam 2024 in Ohio. The Second City Saint has now commented on a potential feud against current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
CM Punk and Cody Rhodes have been among the most prominent names in the new regime. The former world champion got injured in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Match and was eliminated by Cody Rhodes, who reigned supreme. While Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, Punk was forced to remain on the sidelines.
In an interview with Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated, The Straight Edge Star commented on a potential feud against Cody Rhodes. Punk said he would let fans decide which star to cheer and boo as it would be a clash of two 'strong personalities.'
"I think and this is the nicest thing I'll probably say about Seth Rollins. I think when it's Superstar vs. Superstar, right? If it's Cody [Rhodes] and [CM] Punk, or if it's Punk and Seth [Rollins], I think that is the rare air magic where we get to let the fans just do whatever you [sic] want. It's just two strong personalities." (From 39:00 to 39:27)
After giving the classic example of The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin taking place at three different WrestleManias, Punk claimed that he would be the babyface in a potential feud against Rhodes.
"But, of course, Cody [Rhodes] would 100% be the villain because everybody loves me," Punk added. (From 39:38 to 39:46)

Cody Rhodes and CM Punk came face-to-face on WWE RAW before Royal Rumble 2024
Last year, CM Punk returned to WWE after Cody Rhodes' team defeated The Judgment Day in a WarGames Match. The two stars were on the same brand for months before WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia.
Punk and Rhodes had a major goal at the start of 2024, which was to win the Men's Royal Rumble Match and punch their ticket to WrestleMania XL against a champion of their choosing.
On the final RAW before the event, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes engaged in a passionate promo battle, hinting at a future rivalry. It will be interesting to see whether they will cross paths again.
