Surprising backstage reaction to Rey Fenix's tweets (Exclusive)
Rey Fenix has the wrestling world buzzing with his recent tweets. The former AEW World Tag Team Champion seemingly targeted his employer over alleged medical negligence in a series of scathing posts that have since been deleted. It seems the whole situation has caught the attention of WWE.
During a recent edition of Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes spoke on WWE's backstage reaction to Fenix's tweets, noting that some within the company were surprised to see his rant on social media.
"Hearing that there were those in the WWE that were surprised [yesterday] with Rey Fenix's tweets. Not to say that they are not interested anymore, I'm sure that didn't change. But there was [sic] some eyebrows raised over those tweets, especially if you're going to put that out publicly. I think the WWE is going to do some digging into what's going on."
Fenix hasn't competed in an AEW ring since the July 20 episode of Collision, where he defeated Tony Nese in singles competition. He was reportedly set to leave for WWE alongside brother Penta El Zero Meido, but his current employer added injury time to his contract, retaining his services until next year.
Speaking of Penta, he was recently officially removed from the AEW roster, raising speculations he could be headed to the Stamford-based organization. It remains to be seen what's next for Rey Fenix.
