Surprising stat emerges ahead of major title match at WWE SummerSlam
WWE is gearing up for the biggest event of the summer. The card is shaping up for the 37th annual SummerSlam Premium Live Event, and all major titles are expected to be on the line. Now, there has been some new information that has provided a unique backdrop for a current championship rivalry.
Nia Jax has wrestled over 500 matches for World Wrestling Entertainment, but one superstar has shared the ring with her in more than 200 of those contests - Bayley. The SmackDown Superstars will lock up one more time at WWE SummerSlam as Bayley puts her WWE Women's Championship on the line. Jax earned the title shot by winning the Queen of the Ring Tournament earlier this year.
The Irresistible Force and The Role Model will work their 12th televised singles bout at The Biggest Party of the Summer, according to a fan account on X/Twitter, WWEStats. This will be their first to take place on a main roster PLE after their first-ever took place at NXT TakeOver: London in December 2015, won by Bayley.
The last Jax vs. Bayley WWE TV singles match came on February 25, 2019. The former Hugger won the 9-minute RAW main event that night. Bayley and Jax have gone back-and-forth in their series of 11 televised matches since TakeOver as neither superstar has won two in a row.
After the infamous TakeOver win, Jax got her win back on NXT the following April. Since then, the two stars have exchanged wins on NXT and WWE RAW.
Triple H reveals new WWE SummerSlam poster
World Wrestling Entertainment currently has made two matches official for the latest edition of the SummerSlam PLE. Bayley will defend the WWE Women's Championship against Nia Jax, while Damian Priest will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther. Both bouts were the rewards for the winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.
Triple H took to X this weekend to reveal the new promotional poster for SummerSlam, featuring The Bloodline. The Chief Content Officer advised fans to buckle up.
"Buckle up for The Biggest Event of the Summer. #SummerSlam streams LIVE from Cleveland @Browns Stadium on Aug. 3, 7e/4p @peacock @WWENetwork," Triple H wrote with the photo below.
The 2024 SummerSlam PLE is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 3 from Browns Stadium in Cleveland, OH. The go-home SmackDown will air the night before from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.
