"Thank You so much"- Former WWE champion sends Asuka a message after their incredible first match
Multi-time WWE Women’s World Champion Asuka made her return to her old hunting grounds earlier this week. The former NXT Women’s Champion made her way to the developmental territory to take on another former NXT champion.
Roxxane Perez was aiming to be the first woman to beat The Empress of Tomorrow in an NXT ring. The 21-year old put in a spirited performance against the 4-time champion but that wasn’t enough to get her the win. The Japanese veteran got the win over her younger opponent after a brutal kick to the head.
While these two women weren’t holding back in the ring, they both showed appreciation for each other. Taking to Twitter, Asuka complimented Perez for the fight she showed in the ring. Perez was also very proud of her performance against one the greatest female superstars of all time. You can take a look at her tweet below:
"Thank YOU so much. Let’s do it again," replied Roxanne.
Asuka failed to re-claim her title at WWE Fastlane
Just a couple of days before her match on NXT, Asuka was involved in another thrilling match at Fastlane. The 42-year old faced Charlotte Flair and champion IYO SKY in a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s championship. Sky had won the title after cashing in her MITB briefcase at SummerSlam.
Asuka had walked into the show as the champion at the time, but lost her title to Bianca Belair, on whom Sky cashed in her briefcase. This loss probably put Asuka out of title contention for now at least. It will be interesting to see what direction the company has for the star. There’s no indication her return to NXT was a onetime affair, or will she aim to challenge for the NXT title.
