"That'd be a no-brainer" - Real-life Bloodline member pitches major angle for The Rock and John Cena ahead of WWE legend's retirement
The Rock and John Cena are two of the biggest WWE superstars in history. Real-life member of The Bloodline, Afa Anoa'i Jr., recently pitched an angle involving the two legends ahead of Cena's retirement tour next year.
Cena became the face of the company after The Rock went to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. They finally crossed paths in 2012 at WrestleMania 28 when they faced each other in a match built as 'Once in a Lifetime', with The Great One getting the win.
The Cenation Leader earned a rematch at WrestleMania 29 for the WWE Championship. Cena finally defeated his rival to cement his legacy as one of the greatest superstars ever.
Speaking on the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Enter The Bloodline podcast, Afa Anoa'i Jr. gave his thoughts on the possibility of The Rock and even Roman Reigns facing Cena during his farewell tour next year.
"[The Rock and Roman Reigns] could work with anybody. They could make magic with anybody, and you mix someone of Cena's level and experience, and the connection with the crowd and stuff like that, yeah, that'd be a no-brainer. It'd be very easily done," Afa Jr. said. [From 4:36 - 4:51]
John Cena and The Rock are 1-1 at WrestleMania, with fans clamoring for a grudge match to settle things before the former officially retires at the end of 2025. Cena and Roman Reigns have never faced at WrestleMania, but they had a match at No Mercy 2017 with The Original Tribal Chief getting the win.
Joe Hendry hoping to see John Cena on TNA Wrestling before retiring
Speaking to Steven Muelhausen of The Takedown on Sports Illustrated, Joe Hendry opened up about meeting John Cena during his WWE tryout in 2013. Hendry, who recently appeared on NXT several times, is hoping that Cena could make an appearance on TNA Wrestling before he hangs up his boots.
"This being his last year, how cool would it be if John Cena crossed over and appeared in a TNA wrestling ring or challenged for a TNA World Championship? We're in an era where absolutely anything can happen. TNA and NXT have an active working relationship, so it’s not impossible. Anything is possible when you believe," Hendry said. [H/T: Fightful]
Cena officially announced his retirement at this year's Money in the Bank. His farewell tour will start in January 2025 and end in December of that same year.
