"That is God-awful" - Former WWE writer bashes The Judgment Day for opening segment of RAW (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels The Judgment Day lacked star power to open the flagship show.

The Judgment Day featuring Rhea Ripley, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio kicked off RAW this week. They spoke about how the faction has dominated the red brand and will continue their reign of terror at Crown Jewel.

On a recent episode of Legion of RAW, Russo claimed that Rhea, McDonagh, and Mysterio were not as convincing as the opening act of RAW. He recalled his time as head writer of the show when top stars would kick off every episode of the flagship show. He pointed out that the standard of the show has significantly fallen over the years.

"I'm sorry man. I come from an era when there were mega, mega, mega superstars. When you got Rhea Ripley, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio opening RAW, that's awful. That is God-awful. Where they were and where they are when you have these three people come out at the top of the show prime time, that says it all. That literally says it all... That's what this company is right now." Russo discussed why WWE RAW was losing viewers

During the same conversation, Vince Russo spoke in detail about why WWE was losing its audience every week to other sporting events like college football.

"Maybe it has to do with you watching the same exact show on wrestling every single week, and the college football game is different every single week. That might have something to do with it." [From 5:47 - 5:58]

He pointed out that the WWE creative team was putting out similar shows every week, while college football was different and more engaging for the viewers.
