"That's crazy!" - Former champion denies attacking Trick Williams backstage on WWE NXT
Trick Williams' best friend Carmelo Hayes has denied that he was the one who attacked him backstage on WWE NXT last week.
The former was supposed to compete in a fatal four-way match during the show to determine Ilja Dragonuv's next challenger for the NXT Championship. However, he was taken out in the back and wasn't able to compete. The match was turned into a triple threat and was won by Melo.
On WWE NXT this week, Carmelo Hayes was part of a backstage segment with Vic Joseph, commenting on whether he was involved in Trick Williams' attack. He responded by stating:
"Trick wanted the NXT Championship and I wanted the NXT Championship. But to take out my best friend for a championship? Brutalize him? That's crazy."
Melo also spoke about his upcoming match against Ilja Dragonuv. The two stars will collide for the coveted title next Tuesday in the main event of Halloween Havoc Week 2. Carmelo opened up about his mindset going into the match, saying:
"My motivation is stronger than ever, I removed all distractions out of my way."
It'll be interesting to see whether Carmelo Hayes will be the one to dethrone Drganov to become a two-time NXT Champion.
