The Braun Strowman vs. Bronson Reed Last Monster Standing Match fell short, says WWE veteran, for a major reason
WWE Superstars Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed delivered impressive performances during the Last Monster Standing Match on this week's RAW. However, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray revealed a major reason why the physically demanding encounter between the two behemoths didn't fully live up to his expectations.
The September 30, 2024, installment of Monday Night RAW featured a Last Monster Standing Match between Reed and Strowman. The brutal bout saw security guards being taken out and front-row fans getting hurt as the two wrestlers crashed through a barricade. The match culminated in a ring explosion before Seth Rollins returned. The Visionary made a comeback to cost The King of Monsters the match.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray criticized the bout between Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed. The veteran stated that the Last Monster Standing Match lacked the entertainment value he had anticipated, despite acknowledging the talent's effort.
"Last night, I thought it was an underwhelming show, and the things I was looking forward to, like the Last Monster Standing Match kind of, in my eyes, for my entertainment, fell a little short. Also, now, none of the things that fell short came from a lack of effort from the talent; it's just that I would have liked to see some different stuff, and I think they [WWE] missed some beats," Ray said. Wrestling veteran claims WWE ruined the Bronson Reed vs. Braun Strowman matchup with a predictable spot
As mentioned earlier, in the closing moments of the match, the Australian beast took The Monster Among Men to the top turnbuckle and delivered a Superplex, causing the ring to collapse.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo criticized the ring collapse spot during the Last Monster Standing Match. The former WWE writer suggested that the different ring posts foreshadowed the incident.
"Did you not see that ring collapse coming 18,000 miles away? First of all, the ring posts are completely different, bare, and generic. I saw that coming a mile away," Russo said.
