"The championship goes to his head" - Ex-star on Cody Rhodes eventually turning heel as the Undisputed WWE Champion

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has a monumental task ahead in France next month. Meanwhile, a former star believes The American Nightmare will eventually turn to the dark side as the blue brand's champion.

Cody Rhodes is seen as the ultimate babyface and the face of WWE under Triple H's era. However, former WWE star Ryback believes it could change in the coming year, and The American Nightmare will turn on everything he stands for.

Speaking on Ryback TV, The Big Guy believed The American Nightmare will eventually turn towards the dark side, as the power of holding the title will go to his head after a while.

"We've talked about that and the way to do this then is to keep the title on him and let that story start unfolding within the story of him being the champion (...) That, to me, where essentially the championship goes to his head, the fame, the money, the success, he now used everybody to get what he wanted." (From 0:30 to 1:20)

He added that The American Nightmare has already thought of it and could slowly turn heel in the coming year.

"I guarantee you that he's probably already thought this through, him and Hunter. I think though that would be the long play for the next year. You do have him as the clean-cut babyface champion; see if the people slowly start turning on him and then ride out the merch sales as long as you can, everything being great, and then subtly start putting pieces in there and let that story start unfolding." Ex-WWE star on why Stone Cold Steve Austin didn't appear at WrestleMania XL for Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes went up against all odds and won the Undisputed WWE Championship with the help of a few friends and veterans at The Show of Shows. However, Stone Cold Steve Austin was missing, and many believed The Undertaker took the Texas Rattlesnake's spot in Philadelphia.

Speaking on Ryback TV, The Big Guy stated that WWE failed to get Steve Austin for the event. Moreover, he said the company should've paid the legend fairly to put Cody Rhodes over at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Nevertheless, WrestleMania XL was the biggest event for the promotion, and Cody Rhodes walked out with a win and became the face of WWE.
