The current WWE is as good as the Attitude Era after an extraordinary two-year turnaround, declares legend (Exclusive)
WWE has seemingly entered another successful phase under new management, and Dutch Mantell believes the current product is at the level of the Attitude Era. Things within World Wrestling Entertainment have changed rapidly since the Endeavour takeover and Triple H's appointment as the head of creative.
The former world champion has overseen the booking at a time when the organization has consistently broken records from the business front in recent years.
However, even beyond the monetary gains, Dutch Mantell felt that the storylines and superstars rivaled those from the Attitude Era in the 1990s. The former manager broke down WWE's ongoing phase on Sportskeeda Wrestling's SmackTalk, as you can view below:
"I think their business is as good now as it was back in the Attitude Era; that's what they are saying, right? I mean, business is better money-wise, the tickets have picked up, and they've got all these sponsorships, but just watching the show, tonight's show went by very fast. That's how you know a show is decent." [32: 15 onwards]
Dutch Mantell has been reviewing SmackDown over the past few years and noticed a monumental transformation.
Mantell said WWE just relied on Roman Reigns in the past but has now created multiple bankable stars that are part of exciting angles.
The wrestling veteran added:
"Two years ago, SmackDown was just god-awful. They couldn't get anything over. They only had one guy with Roman; that's all they had. And we've seen the massive build they've done over the past two years; that is a lot of work." [33:27 onwards]
With WWE preparing for a move to Netflix, Triple and his team don't seem like taking the foot off the gas pedal as the promotion looks to maintain their momentum.
