WWE News: Plans for Undertaker's match at Wrestlemania 33 remain unchanged

Will this match finally happen?

There have been lots of rumours regarding the Undertaker's match at WrestleMania 33, ever since the dead man made an appearance during the 900th episode of SmackDown a few weeks ago.

Some recent rumours suggested that the original plans for Taker's match at Mania had changed since his appearance at SmackDown Live. However, according to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that's not the case.

In the latest edition of his Newsletter, Meltzer noted that despite the speculations, the plans for the former World Champion are the same as they originally were. While Meltzer did not mention which opponent WWE has chosen to face the Last Outlaw at the grandest stage of them all, it's widely believed to be the face of the company, John Cena.

With that being said, some recent rumours rounding the internet suggested that Cena was not happy with the heavy money paid to part-timers compared to full-time workers by the company and had a heated conversation with Vince McMahon on the topic.

Apparently, this conversation got so intense that Mr. McMahon started worrying whether Cena, who is currently on a hiatus from the company filming the second season of American Grit and is said to take time off from the company in 2017 as well, was coming back at all.

It's worth noticing here that John Cena was heavily rumoured to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32, in what was supposed to be the final match of Taker. Although, these plans were nixed when Cena suffered a shoulder injury back in January 2015.

His injury forced WWE to change their plans and The Dead Man ended up facing a returning Shane McMahon at Mania in a Hell In A Cell match. After the event, multiple sources noted that the Lord Of Darkness considered himself to be retired and was not willing to step foot inside WWE Ring again.

So when the Demon from Death Valley made a comeback in the milestone 900th episode of SmackDown and declared that WrestleMania will no longer define him, many believed that it was a set up for the final match of Taker.

It was said that his return will eventually lead to a match between him and John Cena at WrestleMania 33, with this bout being WWE's way to give a proper sendoff to one of its most loyal employees from the past 3 decades.

Due to the reports of John's grudge with Vince McMahon, The Undertaker vs John Cena match looked to be in a jeopardy. Although now, as Meltzer has cleared these reports as being false, the way for this mega match looks to be all clear.
