The problem with Goldberg's rumored in-ring return revealed by ex-WWE employee (Exclusive)
Gunther and Goldberg nearly came to blows at WWE Bad Blood. A former company employee, while discussing the prospect of a match against Da Man, claimed that The Ring General is afraid of a current superstar.
WWE Bad Blood saw Goldberg attend the PLE before the World Heavyweight Champion came out to poke fun at the legend. His words nearly led to a brawl between them. Sami Zayn found an opening and attacked The Ring General before the two men’s scheduled match on this week’s RAW.
Vince Russo and Jonathan Coachman discussed the angle in the latest episode of The Coach and Bro Show on Sportskeeda's Backstage Pass. The Coach discussed how Triple H tried to build up a potential rivalry between the two stars in the post-show press conference.
"They have him sitting in the arena the other night, and they are teasing a potential Gunther against Goldberg match. And at the press conference after the event, a journalist asked Triple H, Do you think we can get one more match out of Goldberg? And Triple H, always the promoter, says, 'Hey, never say never,' but Father Time has caught up with all of us. And we're not now what we used to be at our age, but never say never," The Coach said about Goldberg's altercation with Gunther at Bad Blood.
Vince Russo fired back at the angle, stating that Triple H and his men made Gunther look weak by making him afraid of Sami Zayn. He noted how he could go head-to-head with someone like Da Man if he feared Zayn.
"Coach, if Gunther is afraid to have a match with Sami Zayn, you think he's going to get in there with Goldberg? He's afraid of Sami Zayn!" Vince Russo remarked.
The World Heavyweight Champion defeated Zayn on the latest edition of RAW after a good contest. It helped him cement himself as a top champion before Seth Rollins came out to confront him.
The altercation between the World Heavyweight Champion and the WWE legend probably took place to build The Ring General as a heel. However, fans could see Da Man return for another short match with the upcoming Crown Jewel WWE PLE set to take place in Saudi Arabia. That could help push Gunther up the ladder even more.
