The ring collapse on RAW reminded WWE veteran of an infamous AEW incident (Exclusive)
This week's edition of WWE RAW ended on a chaotic note as Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman collided in a Last Monster Standing Match. The ring collapsed during the contest, which got the fans in attendance on their feet. However, the spot did not sit well with wrestling veteran Vince Russo, who said it reminded him of the infamous exploding ring incident from AEW.
Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman have been at odds for the past several weeks. The duo got a chance to settle their differences in a Last Monster Standing Match on RAW, where they took each other to their limits. Reed even delivered a superplex to Strowman, resulting in the ring collapse.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo said he felt the match was way over the top and the ring collapse spot didn't look believable. The former WWE writer also compared the sequence to the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch between Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley.
"It was just too much for me, bro. It was just way, way over the top. That ring collapse didn’t look anywhere near believable. It was almost like the exploding of the ring in AEW. That’s what it reminded me of." [From 1:00:06 onwards]
Braun Strowman ended up winning the match on WWE RAW as Seth Rollins made his return to attack Reed. The Visionary delivered a Curb Stomp to The Auszilla on the steel steps.
