The Undertaker gives honest take on Hulk Hogan's wrestling ability
Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker were two of WWE's biggest stars in the early 1990s. The latter recently discussed his former rival's in-ring ability during a conversation about wrestlers hitting the ropes.
In 1991, The Undertaker defeated Hogan for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. After the match, The Hulkster controversially alleged that his opponent failed to protect him while delivering a Tombstone Piledriver.
On Six Feet Under w/Mark Calaway, actor Stephen Amell mentioned how Hogan used to run against wrestling ropes with the side of his body. The Undertaker replied by saying the two-time WWE Hall of Famer was more of a character than a wrestler:
"People hit it differently. Some people hit it differently. I'm not gonna rag on him, but Hogan's work was not his forte. [Hogan based his character on] his promo and his image. It's personal preference on how hard you want to hit them [the ropes]. Some people, like Bron Breakker right now, I can't even keep up with him. He's like a blur going across. He's so athletic and so fast." [0:45 – 1:17]
Hulk Hogan was WWE's marquee name in the 1980s. He headlined eight of the first nine WrestleMania events between 1985 and 1993.
The Undertaker compares WWE legends Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan
One of The Undertaker's favorite opponents, Bret Hart, is widely viewed among the greatest in-ring competitors in wrestling history.
The Undertaker added that Hart perfectly executed the art of running chest-first against turnbuckles before landing on his back on the ring canvas:
"He would always ask me, 'Launch me,' because it helped him generate the speed and the power. I don't know how, man, he took that thing right in the chest. Man, he was always good with it." [1:41 – 1:56]
In the same episode, The Phenom explained why he broke character during a non-televised WWE match in 2009.
