The Undertaker reveals his heart's still in the ring, explains his mindset behind WWE WrestleMania 40 appearance
WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker recently admitted that he still feels the pull of the squared circle. The Phenom also opened up about his reasons for stepping into the spotlight at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.
The Deadman officially hung his boots in 2020 after defeating AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 in a Boneyard Match. The 59-year-old legend has since then made sporadic appearances, such as passing the torch to the late Bray Wyatt at RAW is XXX and delivering a massive punch to Bron Breakker on the October 10, 2023, edition of NXT.
Fans witnessed The Undertaker's latest appearance at this year's Showcase of The Immortals when he took out The Rock with a Chokeslam and helped Cody Rhodes dethrone Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, The Undertaker revealed that his body was practically forcing him to retire once and for all. The Hall of Famer shared that attending WWE shows such as Royal Rumble 2024 was tough for him because he headed out before the action event started.
"I knew my body made the decision for me; in my mind and in my heart, there's nothing I'd rather do than be able to get in the ring and still go. Especially in this era, which is so close to, as far as business-wise, the Attitude Era... I would have to leave sometimes, like, I was at the Rumble in Florida this year, and when the matches started, I left," he said. (H/T: Wrestling Inc.)
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion added:
"It was just that hard for me because my mind is telling me, 'You should be getting ready; you should be getting ready to go do something!' When I agreed to do the thing at 'Mania, I wasn't thinking like that; I wasn't thinking, 'This is going to be it' but once I went out and did it, then I was cool. I was like, 'You know what? Now I'm okay; I'm okay with this!''' (H/T: Wrestling Inc.)

The Undertaker says he felt closure with WWE WrestleMania 40 cameo
Since The Deadman's final match against The Phenomenal One was during the pandemic without any fans in attendance, he was struggling to feel complete.
While speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker mentioned that he was open to making a similar appearance to WrestleMania 40 as he had a closure with it.
"I knew, just like when it was over in the Boneyard Match at four in the morning, like, 'I’m good!' I had no clue, but I just knew once it was done, I was like, 'You’re good, man!' It’s time to flip the page and go to the next chapter. So yeah, it was such a cool weekend all the way around. Then to finish off and have closure to the wrestling part of my career, it was so cool," he said.
