The War Raider's Ivar comments on potential breakup; mentions The New Day's current situation from WWE RAW
The end of a tag team in WWE is very common, regardless of a regime change. The War Raiders are at the top of the tag team division, and Ivar recently addressed the possibility of a breakup from Erik as a tag team.
Erik and Ivar have been working as a tag team for a decade in the industry. A few years ago, they joined the Stamford-based promotion and dominated the tag team division.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, The War Raiders' Ivar was asked about a potential breakup from Erik. The 40-year-old star addressed it and stated he has no plans of ending their tag team. Moreover, he added he wants to stay with Erik and have a run similar to The New Day:
“So, no. I’ve answered this a few times before. I mean, New Day’s having their turmoil now, but for a decade on WWE television New Day’s been together, and it’s never happened, yet. So I feel like we’re in the same boat, maybe we can do singles things on the side. Maybe we don’t have a story in the tag division and something opens up for you know me or for Erik," Ivar said.
He added:
"But I think we can do things. We’re both great singles wrestlers. I don’t think anyone realized that until I had this recent singles run, and he’s just as good. If just the opportunity is there it’s great, but I don’t see us breaking up. I don’t see us splitting up. I think we’re always gonna be there to support each other," Ivar said. [H/T - CVV]
The War Raiders are three-time WWE Tag Team Champions
In 2018, Hanson and Rowe signed with WWE after spending four years as a tag team on the independent circuit. The duo then signed with the NXT brand under Triple H's creative leadership and dominated it in the coming months.
Later, they defeated Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong for the NXT Tag Team Championship. However, they got drafted to Monday Night RAW, which led them to relinquish the titles in the coming weeks where they became Erick and Ivar.
Under Vince McMahon's leadership, they won the RAW Tag Team Championship. After over five years on WWE's main roster, they captured the World Tag Team Championship from The Judgment Day.
