"They love her, so you should love her" - Veteran calls Triple H a 'mark' for pushing 34-year-old WWE star (Exclusive)
While WWE moves ahead under Triple H's creative leadership, it is evident that The Game has his favorites on the roster. When asked what made IYO SKY special, wrestling veteran Vince Russo said she was one of the many talents the Stamford-based company wanted fans to get behind.
After becoming the face of the women's division in NXT, SKY's future was shrouded in uncertainty until she made an unexpected appearance at SummerSlam 2022. The 34-year-old star aligned with Bayley and Dakota Kai to form Damage CTRL and the faction seemingly helped her become more prominent on the main roster.
IYO has since won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship and even held the Money in the Bank contract briefly before winning the WWE Women's Championship. During the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW podcast, a fan admitted they could not understand the hype around The Genius of the Sky despite her being featured on TV for a few years.
Vince Russo explained that fans had no option but to like IYO because the WWE management loved her work. The 63-year-old veteran sarcastically called out the company for its preferences regarding who gets the push. Russo mentioned both Triple H and Shawn Michaels while expressing his honest thoughts about the treatment of SKY and other favorites of the current regime:
"Yeah, because they love her at the WWE. They love her, so you should love her. Don't you know how it works, bro? They are high on her, so you should be high on her. You don't need to know anything about her. Just know that they are high on her, bro, and you should be high on her too. They are marks, bro, they are such marks! Triple H is a mark. Shawn Michaels is a mark. They are all freakin' marks, bro." [45:27 - 45:57]
