"They pushed him too quick" - Konnan on why 24-year-old star's run ended with WWE

WWE has released several superstars under the new regime, both from the developmental brand and the main roster. Recently, WCW veteran Konnan gave his thoughts on why Gable Steveson's run ended with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

Gable Steveson was pushed to the moon in the Stamford-based promotion when he joined the promotion under Vince McMahon's creative leadership and appeared at WrestleMania 38. However, the star was rarely featured on WWE's main roster before he went to the developmental brand to hone his skills.

The 24-year-old star had one match at a premium live event before the company released him. Speaking on Keeping' It 100 OFFICIAL, Konnan claimed that Steveson was pushed too quickly in the promotion and people rejected the star as they believed he wasn't ready.

"I think that without knowing nothing [sic] about this, they [WWE] pushed him [Gable Steveson] too quick in the match that he was in; he looked bad, and the people felt, 'Okay, this is the guy they want to push, but we don't like him' because he's not ready yet," Konnan said. (From 1:37 to 1:52)

Popular WWE star spoke highly of Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson made several appearances on the main roster under both regimes. However, he was introduced to fans at WrestleMania 38 when he confronted and attacked Chad Gable before closing the segment.

Later, he appeared with WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, and the two doused Alpha Academy with milk. In an interview with Gorilla Position ahead of Clash at the Castle in Scotland, Chad Gable spoke highly of Gable Steveson.

"I don't know if that's what it was for him because the physical part of it; I can't imagine that was a problem for him. He's a freak athlete in like the next-level sense of the word. So, hopefully, whatever he decides to transition into, football, I hope he does very well, but for some people [amateurs, athletes, and other sportsperson], they find out it's not for them," Gable said.
