"They didn't want us to be together" - Bo Dallas claims WWE REFUSED to let Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy work as a unit following return
Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas returned to WWE in the latter part of 2022 after being released from their contracts during the pandemic. However, the Rotunda brothers almost didn't work together on screen after the company initially refused to make it happen.
The Bo Dallas character was arguably underwhelming during its run on the main roster, but his alter ego of Uncle Howdy has been successful so far. The Wyatt Sicks, a group led by Howdy, is honoring the memory of the late Bray Wyatt while continuing to haunt RAW.
But before all of that was given the green light, WWE allegedly tried to stop Dallas and his brother from working together. In an interview with Shak Wrestling, the former NXT Champion discussed how the company initially responded to the prospect of him and Wyatt performing as a unit.
"If we were coming back, we were gonna come back as a team. So initially that was the idea, and then we started talking to the company, and some things happened, and we kind of signed around the same time, but we kind of got word that maybe they didn't want us to be together," Dallas said. Fortunately for the real-life brothers, WWE was convinced that they should be working together. In December 2022, Bo Dallas returned as Uncle Howdy to work with Bray Wyatt. However, it was short-lived, given the health problems Wyatt had after Royal Rumble 2023. Unfortunately, The Eater of Worlds passed away in August last year.
Bo Dallas on how important the Uncle Howdy character is to him
In the same interview with SHAK Wrestling, Bo Dallas opened up about his portrayal of the Uncle Howdy character on WWE television. Dallas was proud of his work and called it a "cathartic" experience every time he did it.
"I'm being very cathartic with this character. It's releasing a lot for me and I can almost not live without it anymore," Dallas said. [7:44 - 7-53]
The Wyatt Sicks are currently in a feud with The Miz and The Final Testament. They engaged in a brawl two weeks ago on RAW, with Uncle Howdy putting Paul Ellering in the Mandible Claw to send a message to Karrion Kross and the rest of the group.
