"This guy was once a bona fide star" - WWE is wasting 45-year-old Judgment Day star, says ex-backstage figure (Exclusive)
Ex-WWE writer and backstage figure Vince Russo isn't happy with how WWE has been utilizing The Judgment Day. He believes that one of its members, who was once a bona fide star, is being wasted. The name being discussed is Carlito.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo told Dr. Chris Featherstone his honest thoughts about The Judgment Day. He described the stable as the worst thing in pro wrestling right now, stating that it needed to break to make its members relevant.
Russo said that perhaps the 45-year-old Carlito could be the first one out of the current version of the group. He called Carlito a bona fide star and said he was being wasted in The Judgment Day.
"Maybe it's Carlito, who didn't want anything to do with this in the first place. Like the audience, 'I never understood why I was put in this group'. Carlito's story could be a real story because we were all asking, 'Why in God's name did they put this guy in this group?'. He doesn't belong in this group. This guy was at one time a bona fide star, he still has charisma. Anybody could be in that Carlito spot, he's totally being wasted." (6:28 - 7:08)

It was initially rumored that Carlito would be kicked out of The Judgment Day
Many will likely agree with Vince Russo's sentiment that Carlito is completely replaceable and deserves to have a spotlight of his own.
In mid-October, JoeyVotes and TC reported on WrestleVotes Radio on Backstage Pass that WWE was planning to remove Carlito from The Judgment Day in favor of a return of the "Carribean Cool" character. For those unaware, the said gimmick made him a mainstay of the promotion in the Ruthless Aggression Era.
While his exit was initially teased with Carlito making some costly errors, WWE seems to have cooled down on that plan. The creative team appears to be focusing on Finn Balor as a possible weak link.
While we can't say for sure that it's Finn Balor on his way out of The Judgment Day, the signs are quite telling. While Carlito is mostly just a background figure with an occasional comedic line, Balor has appeared to unofficially take up a leadership role—something that has been challenged by Liv Morgan very subtly.
Morgan, in particular, has reacted humorously when faced with advice from Finn Balor and her reaction to watching him lose the World Tag Team Title suggested that she wasn't as devastated as she should have been.
Some fans will be hoping to see Carlito get his singles run regardless. He has either been a background figure in the LWO or The Judgment Day since his return in 2023.
