"This makes no sense" - Veteran seriously questions WWE over major Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens moment on SmackDown
Reigning Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens shared a wholesome moment on last week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown. However, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer questioned the Triple H-led creative's decision on the storyline.
During the latest episode of the Friday Night Show, The American Nightmare came out to cut a promo. However, he was interrupted by Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. As The Bloodline was about to attack Cody, Kevin Owens came out of nowhere to scare Sikoa and the heel stable away.
Following this, Cody Rhodes shared a wholesome moment with Owens, highlighting how the latter has always been there for him whenever he needed someone against The Bloodline. The 39-year-old then offered KO an opportunity to face him for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin. The former Universal Champion declined the offer by saying he did nothing to deserve it. However, the match was made official by Nick Aldis later in the show.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio recently gave his thoughts on the angle between the two stars. Meltzer claimed it was one of the weirdest angles he had ever seen because the veteran does not believe anyone would turn down a World Title shot. The 64-year-old also mentioned that the angle made "no sense."
"This is actually one of the weirdest angles I've ever seen. You should always be going for the championship. Especially when a guy offers you a world title match and you're going in there and turning it down. That is like, it makes no sense. I mean, you talk about something that makes no sense; this makes no sense," he said.
Two incredible matches are set for WWE Bash in Berlin
As mentioned above, Nick Aldis confirmed this past Friday that Kevin Owens will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin. This was the second bout that was made official by WWE for the upcoming PLE.
The first one was confirmed during last week's Monday Night RAW when Randy Orton made a surprise appearance and challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. The encounter was made official for Bash in Berlin after The Ring General gladly accepted the challenge.
It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led promotion has planned for the rest of the card for Bash in Berlin.
