"This is our new star" - WWE will begin a major title reign after RAW moves to Netflix, says Freddie Prinze Jr
WWE Monday Night RAW still has several months before its shift to Netflix but former writer Freddie Prinze Jr. believes a main roster title reign for Bron Breakker will begin in January. Among the most promising NXT call-ups, Bron Breakker has quickly developed a reputation for being a dominant monster heel.
The former NXT Champion is expected to be the next big thing on RAW, and he's also been booked strongly thus far, although he has yet to win a major championship, which he could when he faces Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.
While speaking on Wrestling with Freddie, the former WWE writer predicted the company would put a title around Bron's waist when RAW airs on Netflix. While Freddie Prinze Jr. wasn't sure if WWE would make Breakker a world champion, he was confident that the promotion would push the 26-year-old prominently in the new era of Monday Night RAW:
"They are building this dude up to be a monster and to be a world champion, and I think it will pretty much... our producer has talked about this as well... I think his championship reign will start to commence right around the Netflix deal and that would be, look, 'this is our new star, on the new network, he is a monster. He has got title X, Y or Z.' I don't know which one it will be at that point, but 'he is our guy.'" [16:52 - 17:12]
Freddie Prinze Jr likes how WWE has presented Bron Breakker
Although he is still new to the main roster, Bron Breakker already looks like he could defeat the best talents on RAW.
Freddie Prinze Jr. stated that while Breakker's microphone work wasn't on the level of his more experienced peers, Rick Steiner's son was blessed with enviable physical qualities.
Prinze noted that even when Breakker loses a match, he is booked to destroy everybody in the aftermath, making him an intimidating superstar to deal with:
"Bron Breakker who may not be as strong on the microphone as those two gentlemen (Damian Priest and Gunther) are, is a physical specimen. His story has been if you don't give me what I want, I'm going to kill everybody, and he has stayed true to that promise." [From 16:00 onwards]
Bron Breakker looks destined for superstardom, and it would be interesting to see how the game-changing deal between WWE and Netflix will shape his career.
