"This is a violation of human rights" – Former WWE Champion recalls 'one of the craziest' segments in wrestling (Exclusive)
A former WWE Champion recently recalled one of the craziest things that ever happened in wrestling. John Bradshaw Layfield looked back at the time when Kai En Tai tried to chop off Val Venis' member on live television during The Attitude Era.
Quite possibly the most famous or infamous storyline involving Kai En Tai was with Venis, who played the role of a male pornographic actor. When he slept with Kai En Tai manager Yamaguchi-San's wife, the stable tried to slice Venis' genitalia in an episode of WWE RAW.
On the latest edition of What Were They Thinking? with JBL, Gerald Brisco, and Joe Lowry, the trio discussed the crazy segment involving a WWE star getting his phallus chopped off with a katana. JBL hilariously called it "a violation of human rights."
"You're cutting off a man's pe**s on global television. This is a violation of human rights. It's a violation of crimes in 200 countries in the world. You can't do this. Especially a porn star. That's his living, and you hold him up, and you got a sword, and you cut off his penis! I don't know how to describe this other than this is one of the craziest things that's ever happened in wrestling," JBL said.

In the storyline, Val Venis' pee-pee wasn't cut because the sword missed the target after someone turned off the light. That someone was John Wayne Bobbitt, who famously got his junk cut off by his wife in real life and was re-attached via surgery.
JBL and Gerald Brisco reveal which WWE name came up with the idea of the segment
In the same episode of What Were They Thinking? it was revealed that Bruce Prichard came up with the idea and made it happen on television despite the craziness of it.
"I don't know who's idea it was. I want to give credit to Bruce Prichard. Let's give credit to Bruce Prichard for coming up with this whole storyline," JBL said.
Gerald Brisco added:
"That's Bruce's style. What kind of sick, demented personality do you have to have? 'Hey, the guy just got his unit cut off. Let's take that to Monday Night RAW. I think we can make it work.'"
The storyline ended after Val Venis broke things off with Mrs. Yamaguchi, who was later dropped completely by WWE.
