"This is way too premature to take the belts off of Machine Guns" - Wrestling veteran on MCMG's title loss to DIY (Exclusive)

Motor City Machine Guns suffered a huge loss on SmackDown this past Friday. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin lost their WWE Tag Team Championships to #DIY on the blue brand. The match wasn't without controversy as Johnny Gargano turned heel by hitting Sabin with a low blow before taking Shelley out with a superkick.

Speaking on BroDown on Backstage Pass, Vince Russo addressed MCMG's shocking title loss. The former writer was critical of WWE's decision to have Shelley and Sabin drop the tag team titles merely weeks after they had won them from The Bloodline.

"My God, to me, this is way too premature to take the belts off the Machine Guns." [39:38 onwards]

Friday's match marked Motor City Machine Guns' first televised loss on the WWE main roster. The pair debuted on SmackDown back in October by winning against A-Town Down Under and Los Garza in a Triple Threat tag team title contenders tournament match.

Shelley and Sabin would defeat Gargano and Ciampa in the final before they beat Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa in an impromptu title match on the October 25 episode of SmackDown.

MGMG's first televised title defense ended in no contest against The Street Profits. They ended up losing their titles to DIY in their second televised title defense. It remains to be seen what's next in store for the Machine Guns.
