Tiffany Stratton's ex-trainer explains why he told her to go home

Tiffany Stratton has become one of the most featured female superstars on WWE's main roster over the last few months. Her former trainer, wrestling legend Greg Gagne, recently recalled how he was forced to get tough with the SmackDown star.

Stratton had experience in bodybuilding, gymnastics, and weightlifting before deciding she wanted to become a wrestler. Gagne learned about the 25-year-old's in-ring aspirations through her father and agreed to train her as a favor.

In an interview with Monte & The Pharaoh, Gagne revealed he once told Stratton to go home due to her lack of effort.

"I said, 'Well, where you been? You're late.' 'Well, I'm tired today. I'm sore.' And she laid on the mat and I said, 'Well, then, are you gonna get in here?' 'No, I'm just gonna watch today.' I said, 'No, you're not. You're gonna get in your car and go home and we're done.' And she said, 'What?' And I said, 'You heard me. Outta here,'" narrated Gagne. [2:36 – 2:56]

Stratton joined WWE in 2021 and quickly became a regular presence on the white and gold brand's programming. She held the NXT Women's Championship for 107 days in 2023 before moving to SmackDown in February earlier this year.

Greg Gagne's reaction when Tiffany Stratton complained again

Despite irritating Greg Gagne, Tiffany Stratton continued to train with the AWA legend. Three weeks after their first disagreement, she allegedly complained about tiredness again during a session at Ken Anderson's training facility.

On that occasion, Gagne told Stratton the same thing before instructing her to never return, pointing out the youngster's attitude not being the best during her early days of training as a wrestler.

"She pulled this stuff on me again. I said, 'Get out, I'm done with you,' and she started arguing with me. I said, 'Hey, you either do it the way I want you to do it or pack up your bags and find somebody else to do it.' And she got real snotty. I said, 'Get in the car and get out of here and I don't wanna see you again,'" recalled Gagne. [3:35 – 3:50]

According to Gagne however, Tiffany Stratton returned 15 minutes later and apologized for her behavior. He also clarified that she was a quick learner and he immediately knew she would be a natural fit for the wrestling business.
